NATO Logistics Operational Course

Aim

The aim of this course is to ensure that participants gain an understanding of theatre level execution of logistics in NATO operations.

The course is designed to provide a theater level logistics overview focusing on JLSG. The training is applicable to all officers, NCOs and civilian equivalents assigned to the NATO Command Structure, NATO Force Structure, national or multi-national units as staff officer in logistics fields including partner nations, who already have the general understanding of NATO logistics. The course will provide a detailed understanding of the theatre level logistic support in NATO operations, its structures, standards, systems, processes, roles and functions together with the doctrine, JOG/AJP 4.6© for JLSG Core Staff Element members, augmentees, personnel assigned to national or FNC Clusters Logistics personnel pool and for those individuals who may have to operate within or adjacent to a JLSG HQ.

NATO theatre level execution of logistics in Article 5 operations: Students from NATO nations recall elements, details, structures or process and recognize or identify specific information related to the NATO theatre level execution of logistics in Article 5 operations (NATO Restricted)

Course Participants

The course is open for military officers (OF-1 through OF-5) and NCOs (OR-8 through OR-9) or their civilian equivalents from NATO, PfP, nations, joint or combined organizations that are assigned to, or selected for assignment to NATO or national positions that involve logistic support in multinational joint operations and/or exercises. The course also targets the personnel assigned to JLSG HQs as augmentees, key personnel assigned to national or FNC Clusters Logistics Personnel Pool and for those individuals who may have to operate within or adjacent to a JLSG HQ.

Methodology

This one week course is comprised basically of lectures. The students who are not participating on NATO Restricted module will have 77 % lectures and 23 % syndicate work, and will perform student presentations. Due to the huge amount of knowledge, the students who are participating on NATO Restricted module, 90 % of the course consists on central presentations/lectures held by supporting speakers. The syndicate work consists of analysis of the JOG/AJP 4.6(C), discussions and back briefings having “understanding of the doctrine” as the main objective.
