Cooperative Security Department (COSEC)
WHAT IS COSEC?
The COSEC department fosters security cooperation amongst NATO members and partners with courses designed to provide NATO orientation including command structures, policies and operations as well as current issues affecting the Alliance.
In addition to basic orientation courses, our portfolio includes topics up to advanced level for operational deployments and specialized courses such as Tactical Evaluation and Combat Readiness Evaluation.
The department also delivers a number of courses reflecting NATO’s active engagement with partner countries and regions.
The teaching environment promotes interaction, creates networks, provokes out-of-the-box thinking and increases intercultural competencies.
WHO ARE COSEC COURSES FOR?
Students graduating from COSEC courses will be empowered with the necessary information, contacts, and wide ranging skills that are required to succeed in NATO’s multinational environment.
CYBER SECURITY CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME
As part of NATO’s effort to strengthen cyber security training within the Alliance and its partners, the NSO and the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California, have developed the framework for a relevant and comprehensive Cyber Security Certificate Programme.
The Cyber Security Certificate Programme supports NSO’s Cyber Defence Policy and its framework for cooperation on cyber defence.
It improves NATO and partner nations’ abilities to protect critical communication and information infrastructures against cyber-attacks.
All courses are intensely technical and the target audience includes both security managers and security technicians to facilitate informed decisions making and better communications with technicians and engineers.
The blended learning approach: A ten week course with the first and last week in-residence at the NSO. Weeks two and eight are conducted via distance learning, facilitated by an NPS Senior Lecturer of Computer Science.
Courses: M6-108-I Network Security Course, M6-109-I Network Vulnerability Assessment Course, M6-110-I Incident Handling and Disaster Recovery Planning, M6-111-I Network Traffic Analysis
