Non Commissioned Officer Programmes (NCOPD)
WHAT IS NCOPD?
NCOPD is an education and training solution to enhance interoperability, to prepare NCOs to work in the international setting and to support nations with their NCO development efforts, according to the NATO NCO BI-Strategic Command Strategy and NCO Guidelines.
The NCOPD mandate is to teach leadership in the diverse multi-national environment of NATO with an emphasis on sharing experiences in a multi-national setting.
The goal of the NCOPD is to augment national training within the context of the Alliance meaning to complement the national training with useful knowledge and skills they should use within the international environment. The most important goal is to shape the attitude to become a better international NCO enhancing the interoperability of the Alliance.
The Department’s offer includes Orientation, Intermediate and Advanced Leadership, Academic Instruction and Command Senior Enlisted Leader Courses.
WHY IS NCOPD NECESSARY?
The courses for Non-Commissioned Officers aim to fill the gaps in the training of NCOs within NATO and partner nations and include issues such as commonality across the NCO cadre, NCO professional development and the role (including training) of Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSELs).
WHO ARE NCOPD COURSES FOR?
NCOPD courses prepare NATO and partner countries’ officers and NCOs to teach in an academic environment according to NATO ACT education and training directives. As part of the NATO NCO Professional development the Department is obligated to train the trainers making the NCOs able to instruct specific topics on NATO and the emerging NATO NCO Corps.
