Protection Department (PROT)

WHAT IS PROT?

The Protection (PROT) Department provides military education and training at the operational level on the following subject areas:

  • CBRN Defence focuses on the full spectrum of non-proliferation activities, policy and planning to instruction in manual and automated warning and reporting procedures.
  • Nuclear Policy, Surety Management, and Operations instruction is the Alliance’s credible nuclear deterrent posture in areas of political and military policy, stockpile surety management processes, and crisis response operations.
  • Force Protection is to understand the concepts, requirements, and ACO Tactical Evaluation criterion in a combined and joint operational context to minimize the vulnerability of personnel, facilities, material, operations, and activities from threats and hazards.
  • Environmental protection, as part of Military Engineering, is to comprehend the integration of environmental laws and regulations within operational level planning during NATO-led military activities in order to assess and mitigate environmental risks.

WHO ARE PROT COURSES FOR?

  • The Protection Department trains students to prepare and respond to Weapons of Mass Destruction, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) incidents and Force Protection (FP) issues during peace or conflict.
