This course provides an introduction to NATO Contracting, by introducing planning mission support strategies as well as market research. Furthermore, it offers on overview on the Bi-Strategic Command Directive 60-70, and discusses different methods of acquisition and types of contracts. The course concludes with a chapter on competition and acquisition plan development.

1. Explain how the Bi-SC 60-70 is Organized, Administered, and Updated
2. Name the organization of the BI-SC 60-70
3. Identify how to use the Bi-SC 60-70 for your job.

Lesson 3 - Market Research: After completing this lesson you will be able to:
1. Name the characteristics of strategic & Tactical Market Research.
2. Tell the benefits of conducting market research.
3. List required sources for a supply or service.
4. Locate potential sources of information.
5. Analyze resources and types of market research information necessary for the acquisition.
6. Define performance assessment methods.

Lesson 4 - Requirements, Documents, Strategy: After completing this lesson you will be able to:
1. List the various issues and elements required to be considered when developing requirements documents (i.e., performance based, best commercial practices, etc.).
2. Name what additional documents are required for specific acquisitions for services, construction, Architect-Engineering, etc.

Lesson 5 - Methods of Acquisition/Types of Contracts: After completing this lesson you will be able to:
1. Identify the acquisition methods
2. List the basic types of contracts and agreements
3. Know the methods of providing for recurring requirements

Lesson 6 - Competition: After completing this lesson you will be able to:
1. Given a Customer Requirement, Identify Competition Requirements.
2. Determine how to process a requirement when full and open competition is be appropriate.
3. Understand what is required to justify a procurement using other than full and open competition.

Lesson 7 - Acquisition Plan Development: After completing this lesson you will be able to:
1. Know what acquisition planning is
2. Identify how to examine market research
3. Explain how the acquisition process is influenced by the legal community
4. List the components of a written acquisition plan
