Learning Objectives

The NATO Framework Policy on Reserves MC 441/1 (Reading P9-39/01): Upon completion of this lesson you will be able to: 1. State the basis of the MC 441/1, "NATO Reserve Framework Policy on Reserves". 2. Identify the structures relative to Reserve Forces decision making and policy development and describe how they interact to shape policy. 3. Describe the usefulness and relevance of Reserve Forces in today's Strategic Environment. 4. Identify the basic concepts of Reserve Forces employment. 5. Determine training and readiness issues. 6. Identify two primary Reserve advisory groups. 7. Describe the factors affecting supporting the reserves.

Background Information: At the conclusion of this lesson, you will be able to state the purpose of NATO's Reserve Forces.

National Reserve Forces Committee (NRFC) MC 392 (Reading P9-39/03): At the conclusion of this lesson, you will be able to describe the role of the NRFC, and who it reports to within the NATO structure.

Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) MC 248/1 (Reading P9-39/02): At the conclusion of this lesson, you will be able to describe the role of the CIOR and how it interacts with the NRFC.

Reserve Forces Organisations within the North Atlantic Alliance: Provide familiarity with some of the Reserve Forces Organisations within the North Atlantic Alliance

Methodology

This course provides operational information to all NATO Reserve Officers. The student will be introduced in 6 lessons to the NATO documents, the Reserve Forces Organisations within NATO and additional baground information.
