This one week course is comprised of formal lectures designed to provide students with a detailed understanding of the content being presented, followed by brief, moderated Q&A sessions.
Apart of this interactive plenary lecture, practical exercises (based on a Case Study) in small syndicates followed by back briefs to plenary and discussion with comments that amplify the classes, will be held. Multimedia means are used in a balanced and constructive combination to enhance internalization of information.
NATO School Oberammergau (NSO) is actively involved in supporting the education and individual training of Conventional Forces to support the conduct of Special Operations (SO) and the utilization of Special Operations Forces (SOF). Developing a more detailed understanding of SO and SOF for convential forces with NATO enables better force integration and serves as a force multiplier for the Joint Forces Commander.
The NSO Irregular Warfare Department delivers a series of SOF courses to develop foundational knowledge of the organization, needs, principles of employment, means and potential benefits that can be provided by SOF in various theatres of operation. The Introduction to NATO Special Operations Course (INSOC) is the first course, followed in sequence with the Special Operations Air Integration Course (SOAIC). The third course, Special Operations Forces Integration Course (SOFI) is dedicated for senior personnel.
This INSOC course was created to provide an introduction to NATO Special Operations examining the background, considerations, and principles for integration of NATO SOF with Conventional Forces, in support of the Alliance.
