Learning Objectives

RECOGNIZE NATO LOGISTICS FUNDAMENTALS: Students will recall elements, details, structures or process and recognize or identify specific information related to the NATO Logistics Core Competencies.

RECOGNIZE THE SCOPE OF LOGISTICS AND ITS FUNCTIONS: Given references, students will be able to describe the logistics considerations and limitations for potential NATO operations in accordance with NATO logistics doctrine.

IDENTIFY KEY ASPECTS OF MULTINATIONAL(MN) LOGISTICS COOPERATION: Given references, students will be able to describe the main considerations of NATO logistics aspects (functions, modes of multinational logistics support etc)

IDENTIFY THE ROLE OF OF ENABLING PROCESSES AND SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS: Given references, students will be able to describe the main considerations of NATO logistics aspects (functions, modes of multinational logistics support etc)

RECOGNIZE NATO LOGISTICS OPERATIONS AND PLANNING REQUIREMENTS: Given references, students will be able to describe the main considerations of NATO logistics aspects during NATO Operations

Course Participants

Military officers and NCOs, or their civilian equivalents, who are assigned to NATO or national positions that involve logistics support in multinational joint operations or exercises.

Methodology

1. This one week course is comprised of lectures, syndicate work and student presentations.
2. When directed by the Department Head and/or NETF, this course can be offered as a two-week Distributed Learning (DL) course (online, instructor-facilitated)

Further Information

Supported by subject matter experts, this is the entry level logistics course with the focus on achieving an overview and common understanding of NATO logistics, building on their (national) gained knowledge. The curriculum is comprised of multiple lectures, syndicate exercises and student presentations to explore and practise NATO logistic fundamentals. This course forms the basis for all students that will have to deal with logistics in NATO from either a multinational or national position. It will give the students the NATO LOGISTICS overview, building on their (National) gained knowledge. This course is a pre-requisite for the NATO Logistics Operational Course and highly recommended for the NATO Petroleum Course, NATO Host Nation Support Course and the NATO Movement & Transportation Course.
