Learning Objectives
NATO Intelligence Organization, Committees/ Working Groups and NATO Document Hierarchy:
From memory, students will describe the NATO intelligence organization, hierarchy, and fundamentals of selected NATO intelligence committees and WGs, as well as the most important NATO intelligence, CI, and security policy documents and doctrines.
Direction Step of the Intelligence Cycle:
From memory, the student will describe how the direction step of the intelligence cycle is conducted in NATO, including the supporting concepts, principles and procedures that are used, in accordance with references.
Collection Step of the Intelligence Cycle:
From memory, the student will describe how the collection step of the intelligence cycle is conducted within NATO, including the doctrine, directives, capabilities, and limitations, staff officer positions in NCS, as well as experiences from exercises/operations, in accordance with the listed references.
Processing Step of the Intelligence Cycle:
From memory, students will describe how the processing step of the intelligence cycle is conducted in NATO, including some key analyst tools as well as reasons and countermeasures for intelligence failure, in accordance with listed references.
Dissemination Step of the Intelligence Cycle:
From memory, students will describe how the dissemination step of the intelligence cycle is conducted in NATO, including existing challenges, in accordance with listed references.
NATO Intelligence Networks, Supporting Systems and Transition Plans:
From memory, students will describe NATO intelligence networks and support and supporting systems as well as plans for improvements, in accordance with references listed below.
Course Participants
Military officers (OF-1 through OF-5) and NCOs (OR-5 through OR-9) or civilian equivalents who are assigned to NATO PE/CE positions, work closely with intelligence, or national staff working on NATO intelligence issues

Methodology
This one-week course is comprised of interactive lectures. The course starts with an introduction and overview of NATO intelligence, following the four steps in the NATO intelligence cycle. The last day of the course focuses on NATO current issues, deficiencies, and transition plans, including a VTC Q&A session with J2/SHAPE.
