Learning Objectives
Chaplain's Role as an Advisor to the Command:
Given a scenario, students will describe how chaplains from different nations and cultures contribute operational and moral support to commanders and troops in accordance with current practices.
Explain Ethical and Moral Questions of Warfare:
Given a scenario, students will explain how different backgrounds and beliefs influence moral and ethical questions of warfare in accordance with applicable regulations and policy.
Care for the Wounded and Caregivers:
Given a scenario, students will summarize different approved methods of reconciliation and ministry to the wounded and to caregivers.
The Chaplain’s Role in Multinational Operations:
Given scenarios, students will describe different roles of chaplain’s within military, humanitarian, and joint multinational operations.
Course Participants
Any military and civilian member of the chaplaincy who will be required to provide care, cooperative ministry, or religious advice to commanders and their soldiers within a NATO Mission.

Methodology
This one-week course is comprised of lectures, syndicate work, and half a day of a walking pilgrimage. Day 1 is primarily focused on creating a baseline understanding of course expectations and intercultural issues. Day 2 focuses on ethical and moral questions of warfare. Day 3 covers care for the wounded and to the caregivers. Day 4 and 5 emphasis is on the chaplain’s role within joint multinational operations and deployment.
