Learning Objectives

Comprehend NATO Command and Operation Structure/Ongoing Operations: Given references, the student will explain the NATO command structure and ongoing NATO operations.

Explain NATO’s Strategic Concept and its Impact on Reserve Forces: Given references, the student will explain the key themes of NATO’s strategic concept as well as its network of partner relationships.

Comprehend the Role of Reserve Forces Within NATO: Given references, the student will explain the NATO Framework Policy on Reserves as well as the mandate and the current focus of the NRFC.

Understand National Reserve Forces, Force Generation and Force Employment: Given references, the student will understand national Reserve Force structures, the principles of Force Generation and Force Employment, along with concepts, policies and related best practices.

Understand the Current Challenges of Reserve Forces: Given instructions, the student will participate in developing the syndicate output resulting in a formal presentation to the NRFC Chairman or NRFC Head of Delegation followed by a reflective panel discussion.

Course Participants

Reserve and Active/Regular military forces from NATO and Partner nations. Open to senior enlisted members, officers and civilians of equivalent rank.

Civilians: equivalent to the NATO rank options

Language Proficiency: English 3232 IAW STANAG 6001
Rank Requirements: NCO: OR-8 thru OR-9
Officer: OF-1 thru OF-5

Methodology

A five-day residential course comprised of;

a. formal lectures,
b. briefings,
c. moderated question-and-answer sessions, and
d. question-based syndicate.
