To provide students with foundational knowledge of NATO’s Force Protection (FP) concepts and requirements.

Learning Objectives
Force Protection Concepts:
Given references, the student will apply NATO FP concepts to the operational planning and the threat assessment processes in accordance with NATO doctrine and policy.
Components of Force Protection:
Given references, the student will explain the FP principles and elements in accordance with NATO doctrine and policy.
Force Protection Operations:
Given references, the student will apply a FP operational component to a recent theatre experience in accordance with NATO doctrine and policy.
Course Participants
Military officers (OF-1 through OF-5) and NCOs (OR-6 through OR-9), or civilian equivalent, assigned to a NATO or PfP headquarters or agency, Ministry of Defence, Foreign Affairs department, or subordinate military headquarters, unit, or agency.
The OPR and/or CO-OPR will establish the prioritisation should the course be oversubscribed. Students pending an operational deployment, newly arrived in a NATO FP position, or projected for an assignment to a FP position will take priority.

Methodology
This one-week course is comprised of interactive lectures, followed by brief, moderated question-and-answer sessions. Syndicate exercises are conducted with subject matter experts from NATO response force mission fields.
