Learning Objectives
CIMIC in NATO:
Explain the role of CMI and CIMIC within NATO and its contribution to a comprehensive approach.
CIMIC Roles and Responsibilities:
Explain the contribution of CMI/CIMIC in staff procedures and their relation to other relevant staff functions.
Civilian Stakeholders:
Explain the mandates, roles, and policies of key civilian stakeholders in the civil military interaction/arena (e.g. ICRC, UNOCHA, IOM, NGOs).
Course Participants
Military officers (OF-1 through OF-5) and NCO's (OR-7 through OR-9), or civilian equivalents, of the NCS/NFS and not currently assigned to a NATO CMI/CIMIC position. The course focuses on the tactical and operational level.

Methodology
The chosen training option is a blended training approach, consisting of a mandatory pre-course ADL module1 (NATO CIMIC Awareness Course – NCAC) provided by the CCOE and complimented by a one-week residential course executed at NATO SCHOOL Oberammergau.
This one week course is comprised of interactive plenary lectures, followed by brief, moderated Q&A sessions, alternating with facilitated work in small syndicates. Case studies complement the subject matter. A guest speaker provides top-level perspectives in closing the course on Friday.
Students should be aware they will be given short but essential reading tasks in the course of the week IOT prepare for the upcoming case-studies and lectures.
