Learning Objectives

METOC SUPPORT TO OPERATIONS, EXERCISES: Given references, the students will describe the contribution to the operational planning, including the determination and the delivery of the METOC products and to the training, including evaluating and updating the METOC Training in accordance with ACO Directive 80-34 and Geospatial and METOC functional planning guide.

NATO STRUCTURE, ORGANISATION AND STRATEGY: Given references, the students will describe the NATO Command and Force structure and how to liaise within this and the geospatial community.

NATO METOC POLICY AND DOCTRINE: Given references, the students describe the procedures to participate in NATO meetings and committees and how to initiate and develop NATO METOC policy and doctrine in accordance with AJP 3.11.

FUTURE NATO METOC CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Given references, the students will describe how to identify future NATO METOC capability requirements and the consequent procedures in accordance with AWP2A, AWP2.1, AWP3, AWP4, ATP32 and ACO manual.

Course Participants

The target audience comprises NATO METOC staff and national METOC personnel involved in the provision and delivery of NATO METOC support and others associated with or requiring METOC functions and services.

Methodology

This one week course is comprised of interactive plenary lectures, followed by brief moderated Q&A sessions and syndicate work.

Further Information

The course is designed to acquaint students with the procedures and processes for the provision of NATO METOC support. This course does not teach students meteorological or oceanographic forecasting skills or specified information.
