The aim of this course is to prepare students to identify NATO’s perspective on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation and Disarmament as a part of the cooperative security approach to countering threats posed by different types of arms and weapons`classes.

Learning Objectives
Arms Control & WMD Related Treaties and Agreements:
Given references, explain current arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation treaties, agreements, and initiatives in accordance with international policy documents.
NATO Policy & Doctrine:
Given references, describe NATO’s involvement under international arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation treaties and initiatives in accordance with NATO doctrine and policy.
International Agencies' & Organisations' Non-Proliferation Policies and Initiatives:
Given references, explain UN and international agency non-proliferation coordination initiatives to include the UNSCR 1540, its successor UNSC Resolutions and associated international agreements, Proliferation Security Initiative, and border controls within the current challenges and threat environment.
Course Participants
Military officers (OF-1 through OF-6) or civilian equivalent assigned to a national staff or belonging to a Ministry of Defence, arms control agency, or foreign affairs department with arms control/counter-proliferation responsibilities.

Methodology
This one-week course is comprised of formal theoretical lectures, one keynote address, one panel discussion dedicated to all the topics covered during the course (half a day), and syndicate work with group presentations.
