Learning Objectives

Global, regional and domestic forms of terrorism: Given references, the student will describe and distinguish global, regional and domestic forms of terrorism, its different aims, strategies, tactics and means.

NATO counter terrorism policy, doctrine, concepts and capabilities: Given references, the student will describe NATO CT policy, doctrine, concepts and capabilities in concert with other international organizations

Regional and national approaches and efforts in combatting terrorism.: Given references, the student will explain and discuss regional and national approaches and efforts in combatting terrorism.

Course Participants

Military officers (OF-2 through OF-5) and NCOs (OR-5 through OR-9), or civilian equivalents, who are assigned, or selected for assignment, to the NATO Command and Force Structures, PfP Headquarters or Agencies, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Security, or Foreign Affairs Department. Any subordinate military headquarters, units, or agenciesy of any NATO/ PfP/ MD/ ICI country which fulfills responsibilities in support of NATO will also be considered.

Methodology

This one-week course is comprised of formal lectures (50-60 minutes) designed to provide students with a detailed understanding of the content being presented, followed by brief, moderated Q&A sessions. All available multimedia means are used in a balanced and constructive combination. Additionally, panel discussions will be held with the participating speakers.
