Learning Objectives

Overview of CJ2X Doctrine / Disciplines / Organization: Given references, describe the current CJ2X doctrine, the HUMINT/Counter Intelligence and Security disciplines and organization, and CJ2X organization, and tasks within NATO Operations.

Lessons Learned and Legal Aspects: Given references students will explain the CJ2X organization, daily tasks and challenges, de-confliction on the ground and Legal, political & cultural issues, as well as national caveats affecting/influencing current, operational CJ2X.

NATO Intel and CJ2X Systems: Given references, students explain NATO’s operationally deployed and deployable Intelligence hardware and software systems.

CJ2X Section Responsibilities and Integration: Given references and data from current NATO Operations, students replicate a CJ2X organization (HUMINT, CI, Analysis and Operations Support Section) and its functions.

Course Participants

NATO military and civilian personnel and NNE (the latter after a selective process of the candidates) operating in the “2X” Cell/Branch/Division, actively involved/deployed in HUMINT, COUNTERINTELLIGENCE, SECURITY activities and operations.

Methodology

Two weeks course, with a robust and multifunctional practical exercise. Formal lectures last 45/50 minutes followed by a 10 minute Q&A period. Syndicate work is based on hands-on exercises in groups, rotating each student and team through all of the different functions within the “2X”. by the end of the course students will have demonstrated understanding of the functions and roles of the CJ2X and produced and synchronized both CJ2X operations and future planning. Assessment is summative throughout the course.
