Aim
To enable IKM personnel of the NATO Enterprise, and of Non-NATO entities participating in NATO coalitions or when handling NATO information, to perform their duties in the roles and responsibilities that are required to ensure the effective and efficient use of information resources, managing all aspects of information throughout its life-cycle, and to ensure the identification and preservation of information of permanent value, as set out in the Primary Directive on Information Management (PDIM), and to enable them to facilitate the building of knowledge-centric organisations.

Learning Objectives
Principles of Information Management:
Referencing NATO IM policies, students will be able to determine the compliance of their organisations with NATO’s IM principles, giving examples of suboptimal practices and distinguishing the relevant NATO IM policy to these practices.
Developing an IM Plan:
Using the NATO template, students will be able to develop an IM Plan and demonstrate its implementation through examples in the syndicate exercises.
Continuous Improvement:
Using knowledge of their organisation and NATO IM Guidelines, students will be able to describe and document information needs and establish procedures for continuous improvement that measurably improve efficiency.
IM Implementation:
Using the NATO IM policies and guidelines, the student will be able to implement IM standards.
IM Tools and Support Processes:
The student will be able to distinguish the component parts and features of IM tools and specify how NATO uses these tools to support its processes.
IM Trends and Future Programs:
The student will be able to outline IM trends and future NATO programmes and their effects.

Methodology
