Learning Objectives

Define NATO: Given references, students will describe NATO organization and structure in accordance with NATO Handbook Ed. 2006.

Leadership in the International Environment: Given references, students will describe the tools, programs, and resources to most effectively perform his/her duties.

Communicate as a Senior NCO: Given references, students will demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate information in accordance with established NATO guidance

International Ethics in NATO: Given references, students will explain the significance of cultural diversity its impact in the international environment.

Current Issues: Given references, students will explain the current issues facing NATO and its partners.

Course Participants

NATO/partner military personnel at the OR 6 – OR 7 levels or civilian equivalent.

A two week residential course comprised of behaviour modelling, interactive lectures, problem-based learning (small group – syndicate work), role play, and simulation (practical exercises/gaming).

A working knowledge of the NATO NCO Bi-SC Strategy & Guidelines (Reference C) is required.

Assessment methodology is summative throughout the course.

The Advanced Leadership Course is designed for students in the ranks of OR8 and OR9, to develop their leadership skills to be applied within NATO's multinational environment.
