ADL courses can be accessed without the need for enrolment but students are required to register through the JADL portal using a military/government email address otherwise they will not be accepted.

Learning Objectives

Describe the NATO organisation and current operations: Given references the student will describe NATO organization and recent operational experiences.

Demonstrate leadership in an international environment: Given a scenario, students will apply the DISC framework in accordance with DISC manuals.

Comprehend the International Ethics and Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC): Given references, the student will explain the myriad of leadership challenges and ethical dilemmas in NATO as they relate to a multiracial, multicultural, and multigender force.

Comprehend current issues: Given references, student will explain the NATO Bi-SC Directive governing NCO development with NATO in accordance with NATO NCO Bi SC strategy.

Course Participants

NATO/partner military personnel at the OR 8 – OR 9 levels or civilian equivalent.

A two week residential course comprised of behaviour modelling, interactive lectures, problem-based learning (small group – syndicate work), role play, and simulation (practical exercises/gaming).

A working knowledge of the NATO Bi-SC Strategy & Guidelines (Reference C) is required.

The Advanced Leadership Course is designed for students in the ranks of OR8 and OR9, to develop their leadership skills to be applied within NATO's multinational environment.
