Opening of the Newly Designed NCC Bar
By the Public Affairs Office
On 24 Sep 18, the NATO School Oberammergau (NSO) celebrated the official opening of its newly designed Bar in the NSO Community Club (NCC). Colonel Timothy E. Dreifke, NSO Commandant, together with the NSO food contractor Monkos & Sandor cut the ceremonial ribbon and welcomed attendees on the occasion of the NSO Welcome Social taking place for all NSO students every Monday.
The NCC serves many purposes. It is used to serve breakfast to the guests of the NATO School Lodge and is also used as a course dinner facility. It is also often the chosen setting for social events such as Icebreakers, Hail and Fairwells and NSO festivities.
The project planning and development began in the summer of 2016. In Jul 18, the project works commenced with the demolition of the bar built in 1989. The works included electrical work, plumbing work, flooring, network cabling, paint work and carpentry. The bar design is based on a Bavarian mountain hut to reflect the beautiful surroundings and idyll of the foothills of the Alps.
